upcycling, hotel edition : The Brewhouse Inn : Pabst Hotel

We were headed to Great America on Saturday, and as usual I conjured up some grand ideas to make vintage/thrifting/dining stops in the vicinity of our destination. I had looked at various sites, yelp, tripadvisor, etc, this boutique hotel seemed interesting.

It had just opened up in early 2013 (brand new!) and was previously a Pabst Brewery.

We noticed the kitchen table immediately, and upon some searching learned:
"the brewery complex is a nationally registered historic landmark"
"maintaining original elements of the buildings"
"wood paneling that became kitchen tables in the suites"

As I would expect with most new construction, "The Brewery Neighborhood project is a LEED-certified green development."  We loved our stay and enjoyed all the attention to details.

A few things to keep in mind, as there is quite a bit of construction going on surrounding the hotel, you may want to request a room not directly facing construction.  Also, there is not much (that I saw) around the hotel, however we had already planned to dine at the adjoining restaurant that evening.

We were also able to procure (fried) cheese curds and New Glarus beers, which qualifies as a successful Wisconsin trip!
