evolution of courtneycourtney

Welcome new fans! Hello seasoned courtneycourtney fans!

I'm Courtney and I design unique upcycled dresses and more for kids.

I try to design at least one unique style every season and work to combine the found-shirts in endless and vibrant combinations. As of mid 2010, I'm proud to say I've personally sewn and created over 3500+ unique garments for kids of all ages. I still sew on the same serger that my mom and I picked out 10 years ago. This experience and skill lets me create CC pieces for your kids that are of the highest quality with genuinely unique designs.

I work full-time as a designer for a children's fashion accessory company and CC is my passion outside of work. I design and create CC pieces during my evenings, weekends, and early mornings.

For both my work and CC, I stay current with the evolving world of children's fashion, whether in print, internet, trade shows, stores... I love it; it's huge, and it's always changing! Lines come and go but some thrive incredibly well :D This space {choosychu.tumblr.com} is a chance for me to share with you some of my favorite things that bring the freshness into my designs.

For those of you who don't know me, I graduated with a degree in product design from Carnegie Mellon, focusing primarily on soft goods, textiles, and lifestyle products.

I designed everything from Children's Furniture to tableware. From all of the exploration I did, knits really called to me as my material of choice; the variety and sustainability of found fabrics (tshirts!) have continued to inspire my work for the last seven years. Every shirt I discover speaks to me and becomes an inspiration for a new project.

After thousands of hours spent experimenting with knits, my designs have evolved and my techniques have advanced, as you can see from the examples below.

I want to thank you for supporting me, and my designs, especially to my collaborators, fellow creatives and photographers!

My work has evolved as your little ones have grown. It has been quite a journey so far, and the thought of the new ideas to come are very exciting! I love to find inspiration and I love the freedom to create. I am simply one girl designing for another girl.
